Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party at Walt Disney World is a magical holiday celebration you won’t want to miss! This festive event takes place on select nights at Magic Kingdom, transforming the park into a winter wonderland filled with dazzling lights, parades, and special shows. From our favorite Mickey’s Once Upon a Christmas Parade to Minnie’s Wonderful Christmastime Fireworks Show, this event is a holiday lover’s dream come true! This event is a holiday tradition for our family and we absolutely love attending and enjoying the decorations and indulging in the various cookies and treats offered throughout the park.
For first-time visitors, here are a few helpful tips we have learned that will help make the most out of your experience:
- Arrive Early: Even though the party officially starts at 7 p.m., guests with event tickets can enter Magic Kingdom as early as 4 p.m. Use those extra hours to hop on rides or grab a snack before the festivities begin!
- Plan for Popular Events: Be sure to check out the event-exclusive offerings like “Minnie’s Wonderful Christmastime Fireworks” and Mickey’s Christmas parade. These shows only happen during the party, so grab a good viewing spot early to avoid crowds.
- Don’t Miss the Holiday Treats: Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party offers complimentary seasonal snacks, like hot cocoa, cookies, and apple cider, available at stations throughout the park. But, for a more indulgent experience, look out for party-exclusive treats like peppermint-flavored desserts at select dining locations. You can check out the latest offerings at Disney’s official page here: https://disneyworld.disney.go.com/events-tours/magic-kingdom/mickeys-very-merry-christmas-party/
- Dress for the Weather: December in Orlando can be unpredictable. Evenings can get chilly, so pack layers to stay comfortable while exploring the park during this nighttime event. Also, don’t forget your ponchos! Cold fronts tend to move in and out of Orlando this time of year and may bring significant rain storms, so it’s best to be prepared for anything.
- Meet Rare Characters: Many characters make rare appearances in festive outfits during the party. Be on the lookout for special meet-and-greets with favorites like Jack Skellington as Sandy Claws and Scrooge McDuck! Keep an eye on the event guide to plan which characters you’d like to meet.
- Book a Dining Experience: if your family would like a more intimate dining experience for dinner, you can book reservations at several locations that are open throughout the park. Some dining options even provide special dessert options and a special viewing experience for the fireworks show!
- Don’t forget your free gift: Typically when attending MMC, you get a FREE gift when you enter the park. Most of the time you have to follow a special path for event guests to the right of Main Street where cast members hand out your gift. Keep an eye out so you don’t miss out! The last several years we have scored a nice Mickey ornament for your tree!
- Let it snow: One of our absolute favorite parts of the evening is the snow on main street. It is truly Disney magic! The snow effect happens multiple times during the evening and is exclusive to the Christmas party. So, don’t miss out on this experience with your family. Soak in the views and really take in the holiday joy.
With a bit of planning and a dash of holiday spirit, Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party will be a magical experience to remember. Whether you’re coming for the parade, fireworks, or the cozy holiday vibes, it’s sure to be a night filled with Disney magic!
